The Thermomix® first started as an ahead-of-its-time blender that could cook and has evolved into a
Back in 1961, the Thermomix got its start as the VKM5, a handy appliance that did seven different things—everything from stirring and kneading to juicing. But the real game-changer came around 1970, thanks to the head of Vorwerk France. They had the brilliant idea of adding a heating element so you could blend and cook in the same pot, which was perfect for making popular French soups and baby food.
From there, things really took off! The original Thermomix VM 2000 was launched in 1971. Then came the bright orange VM 2200, which was smart enough to keep your food hot or cold. By 1996, with the release of the Thermomix TM21, it got even better with a larger bowl and a built-in weighing scale. And then came the TM5, which made cooking even more effortless with its digital, guided cooking features and a cool touchscreen. It’s no wonder so many of us love cooking with it!
By the way, 75% of these amazing machines are made in Cloyes-sur-le-Loir, France, and the rest are made in Wuppertal-Laaken, Germany, in factories that have both been expanded.
